Over a period of time, search engines have become increasingly complex and selective. In a bid to discourage the practice of designing websites such that they are search engine friendly, Google started using natural text algorithms (NTAs).

The objective was to not only identify these pages, but also penalize them. As a result, people who have mastered the art of SEO copywriting, that is those who have the skill and know how to create pages which can beat this tool, are in great demand.

SEO copywriting is not as easy as it used to be. When natural text algorithms were first introduced, they did not pose much of a problem. But over time they have become increasingly sophisticated.

In fact, now NTAs are at par with a college student when it comes to scrutinizing a web page to determine whether the flow of written communication is meant for real people or if it was artificially contrived to push up the webpage's ranking.

But on the flip side, you can actually use this to your advantage to earn money, as long as you understand what SEO copywriting entails. The following steps are the key to successful SEO copywriting.

Step 1: Identify and rank the three most important keywords of your website. At this stage, you are determining the main theme of your website.

Step 2: Next, you need to get hold of one of your friends or family members and talk to them about what your website is all about, that is give them a description about the products and services that you are looking to sell through your site.

Naturally, you will be do this with some enthusiasm, but don't go overboard! Keep in mind that SEO copywriting is all about being effective but at the same time not giving the impression that you are trying too hard.

Step 3: The next step is to think about how you described your website to your friend/family member and make a note of it.

If you think this will be a problem then the best thing to do would be to record your conversation about the website. At this stage, you don't need to worry about any grammatical errors or the content structure.

The objective is to make the flow as natural as possible. Natural text algorithm will typically penalize pages which have been artificially engineered just to get great result rankings.

So the way to get around NTAs is to give your content a natural and easy flow. That's one of the secrets behind great SEO copywriting!

Step 4: Now go back to the three keywords that you had identified for your website and make sure that you use the most critical keyword somewhere in the beginning of the first paragraph.

The second keyword must appear somewhere in the middle and the third, at the end of your first paragraph. But don't try too hard to squeeze in the third one.

If you think that using it will disrupt the natural flow of your text, refrain from using the third search term too quickly, instead use it in the middle of the next paragraph.

Again, make sure that you use the most important keyword within the first few sentences of your second paragraph.

Now use only one keyword per paragraph. To elaborate, when you reach the second paragraph use the most important keyword somewhere in the beginning.

For the third paragraph, use the second keyword in the first few sentences. Continue likewise till you reach the last paragraph.

The rules for the last paragraph are different and are explained in the next step. But you need to keep in mind that each keyword should not be used more than thrice before the final paragraph.

This step of SEO copywriting ensures that keywords are well spaced out and not being used excessively. Also, it makes the content consistent.

Step 5: Now it is time to work on the last paragraph. What you need to do is to start with the keyword with the lowest rank and then end the paragraph with the most important keyword.

The idea is to stress the importance of the keywords and maintain consistency.
